Glen Ellyn Approves 50 Percent Increase in Electric Rate
Glen Ellyn residents will see higher electric bills come this fall when a new supplier takes over.

The Glen Ellyn Village Board of Trustees approved a three-year contract with First Energy on Monday, which will mean a 50 percent increase in the energy rates when the village's current contract with Verde Energy expires on Aug. 1, according to the Chicago Tribune. 

The village of Glen Ellyn will have a rate of 7.5 cents per kilowatt hours for its municipal electric aggregation program, the Chicago Tribune reports.
