The Glen Ellyn Public Library will host its 2nd Annual STEAM Fair from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM Saturday, February 28.

Kids of all ages will explore, engineer, and engage with 15 exhibitors showcasing the latest innovations in science, technology, engineering, arts, and math, including: The Saint Mary’s Affiliate of the American Chemical Society, Burpee Museum of Natural History, ChiBot, Curtain Up, and many more. Families will enjoy a variety of attractions including working robots, dinosaur fossils, and a chemistry magic show.

“Through hands-on and activity-based learning activities at our upcoming STEAM Fair, the library wants to ignite a curiosity and enthusiasm in kids for science, technology, engineering, art and math,” said Renee Grassi, Youth Department Director.

During the fair, kids will have the opportunity to take part in two art projects. Kids in grades three and below can create a STEAM mosaic out of post-it notes. Kids will choose the size and color of the post-it note they wish to decorate and then place the note within one of the letters spelling out STEAM. Kids in grades four through eight can decorate one of the Youth Study Room windows. Each grade will be assigned a window with one of the letters of STEAM written on it.

“Children need to explore, experiment, and be creative in order to learn and think critically,” said Grassi. “By doing so, children will be primed for further success in the classroom and in life. That’s what STEAM education is all about.”
