Teen Critically Hurt When Van Hits Tree, Ignites In Carol Stream
Neighbors reportedly came with hoses to help put out the fire that left the teen trapped inside the car.
CAROL STREAM, IL - A teen suffered life-threatening injuries late Friday when the car he was driving crashed into a tree in Carol Stream and burst into flames. Seven emergency responders were treated for smoke inhalation after working to get the boy, 17, out of the vehicle, ABC 7 reports.
Neighbors reportedly rushed to the scene near Pocohontas Terrace and Mohican Road with hoses in tow to help try to extinguish the blaze. Firefighters were able to get the teen out of the car and he was taken to a nearby hospital.
The single-car crash took place shortly after 7 p.m. Police are still trying to determined what caused the crash.
