Foot Doctor Gives Free Care at Homeless Shelter

Dr. Simon Lee of Glenview served about 170 on Chicago's west side as part of "Soles 4 Souls."

A Glenview foot doctor gave medical care to several homeless men and women at a shelter in Chicago this week.

Dr. Simon Lee, of Glenview, and Dr. Johnny Lin, both Rush Hospital physicians, led the effort behind the 9th annual “Soles 4 Souls,” which included a group of orthopedic residents, physician assistants and medical students from Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush who delivered shoes, socks and medical care to the homeless at the Franciscan House of Mary and Joseph on Chicago’s west side on Tuesday.

“Lee and his team know that without proper medical care, clean/dry shoes and socks, homeless individuals often neglect the health of their feet,” read a community post on the Chicago Tribune. “They can suffer from frostbite, fungus and a variety of painful foot conditions. The (Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush) team looked for and treated any of those conditions for all comers to the event.”
