Things looked promising for Glenbrook South when they came out to an early, 14-0 lead against Maine South — but the Hawks from Park Ridge tied the game before half-time and kept scoring to finish the match with a 35-14 win over the Titans, CSL Insider reports.
“We played a great first half and in the second half we had a good plan,” GBS coach Mike Noll told CSL Insider. “We just had to be flawless and we weren’t. We had two turnovers.”
The Titans scored two runs in the first half, when Brett Laurie intercepted a Maine South pass for a 49-yard return in the first quarter, followed by a 24-yard pass from GBS quarterback Max Cohen to Cody Carroll, the Chicago Tribune reports.
But the Hawks had tied the game just before halftime, and the rest is history. According to the Chicago Tribune, Friday's win marks 60 straight conerence wins for Maine South.
