Mock Election Held at Glenbrook South

Students chose between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump; Mark Kirk and Tammy Duckworth; Bob Dold and Brad Schneider.

GLENVIEW, IL - More than 600 students and faculty members at Glenbrook South High School participated in a mock election organized by the school’s AP Government classes and the local League of Women Voters.

For president, the GBS community prefers Democrat Hillary Clinton, who received 45 percent of the votes. Republican Donald Trump received 35 percent, Libertarian Gary Johnson 9 percent and Green Party candidate Jill Stein 5 percent.

It was Republican Mark Kirk, an alum of rival school New Trier, who came out on top of the U.S. Senate race. Kirk had 45 percent of the vote, besting Democratic challenger Tammy Duckworth who had 39 percent.

The race for the U.S. Congressional seat in Illinois’ 10th District was the closest at the school, with Democratic challenger Brad Schneider edging Republican Bob Dold, 49 percent to 48 percent.
