Niles Woman Found Dead in the Snow
Conflicting details emerge on identity of who found Elizabeth Lutz.

A Niles woman was found dead in the snow Monday night after being mistaken for a garbage bag.
Elizabeth Lutz, 55, was pronounced dead at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge after Niles police attempted CPR as she was found laying face-down outside her home in the 6800 block of Dobson.
The Niles Herald-Spectator reports police contend the discovery of the body was made by Lutz’ son-in-law just before 6 p.m., about 40 minutes after he arrived at the residence to shovel. When he arrived, he saw what “appeared to be a garbage bag” and later found to be his mother-in-law.

MyFox Chicago, however, reports that a family member said “she has no son-in-law and was found by a neighborhood boy shoveling snow across the street.”
When found, Lutz was dressed for the winter weather when found and showed no visible injuries, police said.

An autopsy was scheduled for Tuesday by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office, but results were still pending as of Tuesday night.
“At this point there is no evidence of foul play,” a Niles police spokesman told the Herald-Spectator.
