Sheriff to Conduct Driver Safety Checkpoints in Unincorporated Glenview
The roadside safety checkpoint will occur in the evening of May 24 into the following morning.
Cook County Sheriff’s Police will be conducting significant enforcement efforts in various parts of the county starting tonight, Sheriff Thomas J. Dart said today.
Sheriff’s Police Officers will be conducting enhanced DUI enforcement patrols tonight, May 22, and May 23. They will be conducting enhanced seatbelt violation patrols from May 18 through May 21 and from May 25 through May 26.
Sheriff’s Police will also conduct a roadside safety checkpoint in unincorporated Glenview on the night of May 24 through the early morning hours of May 25. At the checkpoint officers will ensure drivers are complying with Illinois driver's license and registration requirements as well as determine whether anyone is driving impaired.
The checkpoints aim is to emphasize roadway safety, increase seatbelt usage by motorists, promote the importance of safe travel, and help reduce the number of vehicle crashes in Cook County. The enhanced patrols and the roadside checkpoint are all funded through a grant from the Illinois Department of Transportation.
