Join the Prairie Farm Corps Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) and receive 8 weeks of certified organic produce 100% grown in Grayslake. You will enjoy a seasonal assortment of farm-fresh delicious vegetables, and your purchase will support a youth development program at the Prairie Crossing Learning Farm.

Community Supported Agriculture is a mutually beneficial relationship between a farmer and consumer. Consumers purchase a CSA “share” which provides money for start-up farm expenses such as seeds, equipment, repairs, and tractor fuel. During the growing season, CSA members receive a weekly box of farm-fresh seasonal produce, and develop as a relationship with the farmer who grew their food.

The Prairie Farm Corps CSA runs June 22 – August 10, and pickup is on Friday from 4-7 p.m. at the Prairie Crossing Farmers Market, Station Square, 970 Harris Road, Grayslake.

With a $240 membership, you will receive approximately 1/2 bushel of 6-8 varieties of certified organic vegetables each of the 8 weeks. Isn’t improving your family’s diet worth $30 a week? Farm-fresh vegetables are delicious and nutritious! Online CSA registration is at  www.prairiecrossing.com/farm/learning.php.

Not able to commit to the entire 8 week season? Come purchase vegetables from the Prairie Farm Corps at the Prairie Crossing Farmers Market at the dates listed above.

The Prairie Farm Corps Program is a paid job training opportunity on a working organic farm for diverse teens from central Lake County. Participants are involved in all aspects of a sustainable agriculture business from seed to market. Educational opportunities include farm work, workshops, field trips, and cooking sessions. The Prairie Farm Corps provides meaningful work, expands job skills, and strengthens participants’ connections to their food system, environment and community.

The mission of the Prairie Crossing Learning Farm is to educate and inspire people to value healthy food, land and community through experiences on our farm. The Prairie Crossing Learning Farm is a program of the Liberty Prairie Foundation, a 503(c)(3) non-profit organization located within the Prairie Crossing conservation community in Grayslake.
