Summer Camps At The Grayslake Park District

The is now taking registration for their Summer Camps. Register by May 16 for early bird discounts.

Day Camp 1st - 5th Grade

Day Camp is centered on creating, experiencing and expanding your child's summer's potential. Campers will participate in large group activities and games, arts 'n crafts, nature studies, sports, theme weeks and fun Friday events. Campers will swim two days a week and have an off-site field trip once a week. Besides all the fun your camper will have, this is a great way to build long lasting friendships, teamwork skills and positive sportsmanship. Camp days are structured with some semi-unstructured time to allow for campers to unwind and have some quiet time to recharge their energy levels.

Camp is held Monday - Friday or Monday, Wednesday, Friday at the Grayslake Middle School from 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. 


Sports Camp 1st - 5th Grade

Sports Camp is designed for the child who wants to be active while learning aspects of a variety of sports in a fun team-oriented atmosphere. Campers will learn a variety of sports and games including sportsmanship, strategies, skills, rules, game situations and of course playing games with an emphasis on FUN! Sports and games will include: basketball, flag football, softball/baseball, dodge ball, swimming, fitness and much more. Campers will swim two days a week and have an off-site field trip once a week. Counselors strive to offer your child a safe and fun summer that will have them wishing that summer would never end.

Camp is held Monday - Friday or Monday, Wednesday, Friday at the Grayslake Middle School from 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.


Go Girl Go! Camp 4th - 8th Grade Girls

Calling all GIRLS!!! Come join us for the NEW girls only sports and activity camp. This camp is offered two times during the summer for 4-weeks each time. The camp will focus on being active, building confidence and healthy living. Each week will highlight a specific theme promoting overall wellness geared toward girls. Each session will include a variety of the following activities:

           * Sport Instruction                       * Healthy Living & Nutrition   

           * Guest Speakers                         * Games & Crafts           

           * Field Trips (optional Tues/Thurs) * Building Friendships

           * Swimming                                * Community Service Projects

           * Journal Writing                          * Leadership Training           

           * Building self esteem & wellness   * Cooking

           * Bike riding / nature walks

           * Trips to visit & participate with High School Athletes           

The girls will go swimming on Mondays and Fridays and have field trips on Tuesdays and Thursdays (optional). All activities will be based on the GoGirlGo! Educational Curriculum developed by the Women's Sports Foundation. Camp is held at the Grayslake Middle School.


Teen Camp 6th - 9th Grade

A summer of exploration is ahead for your teen! This camp is geared toward young teens. A variety of activities will help young adults develop leadership skills, while enjoying new experiences. Each week we will focus on an area of interest chosen by the teens; we will explore the many facets of that area. Activities include sports, swimming at the Grayslake Aquatic Center, and more.

Camp is held Monday, Wednesday and Friday at the Grayslake Middle School from 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.


Breakaway Camp 6th - 9th Grade

This camp is designed for those who have an adventuresome and thrill-seeking spirit. Breakaway Camp is your ticket to an exciting summer! Each day a different field trip will be taken to area water parks, theme parks, Chicago attractions and athletic events. Trips to Great America, Magic Waters, Navy Pier and a ball game are currently being planned. The trip schedule will be available on the Grayslake Park District website beginning May 1.

Camp is held Tuesday and Thursday at the Grayslake Middle School from 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.


Extended Camp Care

Extended camp hours are available options for campers who are currently enrolled in Day Camp, Teen Camp, Breakaway Camp or Sports Camp. If you need an early start to your day or later hours in the afternoon, then this is a program for you. The extended campers will have many options to participate in craft projects, game time and gym time. During extended hours, campers have the flexibility to select their activities. It is the choice of the camper whether they want to join a group structured project or a small group activity.
