Ballet Makkai to take on YAGP
Dancers from the Irina Makkai Classical Ballet and Dance School to compete in the Youth American Grand Prix in Indianapolis.
Six dancers from the Irina Makkai Classical Ballet and Dance School are set to compete March 3-6 at the Youth American Grand Prix in Indianapolis, the world’s biggest international ballet competition. Dancers ages 11-16 have been preparing for the competition since September and will perform two classical ballet solos from such ballets as Sleeping Beauty, Le Corsaire and Coppelia. Under the training of Irina Makkai, Lilla Makkai Daniels and Stella Voskovetskaya, these ballerinas will compete with over 200 other dancers from around the country hoping to make it to final round in New York in April. One student, Orli Gluzman, has already competed in Chicago Semi Final round, placing in the top 24.
The remaining six girls competing are Lily and Madeleine Avila, Selene Malench, Ella Witmer, Elizabeth Kasten and Lisa Clair.
