City Seeking Broker for Highland Park Theater Sale

After the most recent attempt to renovate the space fell through late last month, the city decided to put the space up for sale.

City Seeking Broker for Highland Park Theater Sale

The city is looking for a commercial real estate broker to sell the Highland Park Theater.

The council made the decision late last month to sell the property, which has been closed for nearly two years, after the  Alcyon Foundation withdrew its bid to renovate it as a multiuse entertainment venue.

After “exhausting numerous efforts to redevelop the property,” the city decided to put it up for sale, Mayor Nancy Rotering said at the time.

The sale will be done in “as-is” condition without any restrictions other than the current zoning requirements, according to a press release from the city. This means it doesn’t have to be used as an entertainment venue. And as long as there is no net loss of public parking, the city would consider allowing the adjacent Ori parking lot to be part of the sale. The building itself is 18,400 square feet.

Requests for proposals from interested brokers are due by March 7. More information on the request for proposals is here.
