Possession of cannabis

Jeffrey Lantz, 58, of the 6000 block of Lake Drive, Lisle, was issued an Administrative Citation for possession of cannabis after being observed by police smoking while attending Ravinia Festival on August 3. Lantz is expected in Administrative Court at City Hall, 1707 St. Johns Avenue, Highland Park on September 20, 2012.

Elena Rojas, 20, of the 1800 block of Sunnyside Avenue, Highland Park, was arrested and charged with possession of cannabis on August 1 after being located by Community Policing Aides in the 0-100 block of Ravine Drive, Highland Park. Rojas was released on a personal recognizance bond with a court date of September 12, 2012 at 301 Greenleaf Street, Park City, Illinois.

William Basurto, 21, of the 1100 block of Muirfield Avenue, Waukegan, was arrested and charged with possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia on August 6 after a vehicle he was a passenger in was stopped in the 400 block of Skokie Valley Road, Highland Park. Basurto was released on a personal recognizance bond with a court date of August 27, 2012 at 18 N. County Street, Waukegan, Illinois.

Home invasion

At 7:22 a.m. on August 2, the police department received a 911 call from homeowners residing in the 3000 block of Parkside Drive, just east of Route 41. It was related that an unknown person entered the home through a downstairs window, was confronted by one of the residents and then fled back out of the home, running north from that location.

Theft

Police are investigating a delayed report of a theft. It was reported that sometime over the weekend, four tires and rims were stolen from an inoperable 1995 Honda while parked in the 100 block of Skokie Valley Road, Highland Park. 

Police are investigating a delayed report of a theft. It was reported that between 9 p.m. on July 30 and 6 am on July 31, unknown persons used car jacks to lift a vehicle to remove its four wheels. The unknown persons also used a tool to damage and partially remove body panels and badges from two other vehicles while parked in a lot in the 400 block of Skokie Valley Road, Highland Park, Illinois.

Police are investigating a delayed report of a theft. It was reported that an orange and black Magna Rip Claw bicycle was stolen from a backyard located in the 2500 block of Trillium Lane, Highland Park sometime between August 1, 2012 and August 3.

Police are investigating a delayed report of a theft. It was reported that a red and white bicycle (unknown make) was stolen from a bicycle rack located in the 1800 block of Green Bay Road, Highland Park sometime between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. on reported date and time. The bicycle was left unsecured in the rack.

Police are investigating a report of a theft. It was reported that an iPhone and Wallet containing credit cards, cash and identification were stolen from an unsecured and unattended backpack left near a basketball court. The incident occurred in the 100 block of Skokie Valley Road, Highland Park. 

Criminal damage to property

Police are investigating a delayed report of a criminal damage to property. It was reported that sometime over the weekend an unknown subject smashed a drivers side front window of a vehicle parked in the 2300 block of Skokie Valley Road, Highland Park. Multiple pry marks were found indented in the window sill and frame.  A black lug nut was also observed on the passenger side front wheel bolt, which did not appear to belong to the vehicle.

Police are investigating a report of a criminal damage to property. It was reported that while driving in the area of Sheridan Road and Elm Place, an object struck the windshield of a vehicle. Two small holes were observed in the upper right corner of the windshield. The small round holes may have been from a BB or pellet.

Burglary from motor vehicle

Benjamin Schenk, 19, of the 0-100 block of Wainwright Street, Highland Park, was arrested and charged with burglary to motor vehicle, possession of cannabis, consumption of alcohol by a minor and contributing to the delinquency of a minor after police responded to a report of three suspicious subjects, two subjects later found to be juveniles, walking in the area of 800 Auburn Court, Highland Park carrying pillowcases. Schenk was transported to bond court at 18 N. County Street, Highland Park, Illinois pending court date. 

Police are investigating a report of a burglary from motor vehicle. It was reported that sometime between 6 p.m. on July 31 and 6 a.m. on August 1, three Comcast receivers, three knives, a black flashlight and a black CD case containing approximately 20 CDs were taken from an unlocked vehicle while the vehicle was parked in the driveway of a residence in the 900 block of Auburn Avenue, Highland Park.

Driving under the influence

Robert Schaul, 67, of the 1300 block of Sheridan Road, Highland Park, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence and no illuminated rear license plate light after being stopped by police near the intersection of Sheridan Road and Linden Avenue, Highland Park. Schaul was released on a cash bond with a court date of August 17, 2012 at 18 North County Street, Waukegan, Illinois.

Jonathan Perez, 29, of the 4300 block of Shakespeare Avenue, Chicago, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, uninsured motor vehicle, improper lane usage, headlight not illuminated and expired registration after being stopped by police in the 1900 block of Skokie Valley Road, Highland Park. Perez was released on a personal recognizance bond with a court date of August 31, 2012 at 18 North County Street, Waukegan, Illinois.

Lynn Peters, 40, of the 1200 block of North Clyborne, Chicago, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, expired registration and driving the wrong way after being stopped by police in the 1700 block of St. Johns Avenue Highland Park. Peters was released on a cash bond with a court date of September 7, 2012 at 18 North County Street, Waukegan, Illinois.

Driving while license revoked

Hector Guerra, 21, of the 0-100 block of South Main Street, Northfield, was arrested and charged with driving while license revoked and improper backing after being stopped by police in the 200 block of Skokie Valley Road, Highland Park. Guerra was released on a personal recognizance bond with a court date of September 12, 2012 at 301 Greenleaf Street, Park City, Illinois.

Burglary

Police are investigating a delayed report of a burglary. It was reported that a light blue Fuji road bike and White mountain bike were stolen from a rear detached garage between August 1 and August 3.  No signs of force were noted however the light bulbs were found removed from their sockets around garage and placed to the side. The incident occurred in the 900 block of Park Avenue West, Highland Park.
