More Trees Coming Down in 2015
Highland Park could spend up to $173,000 this year in removing trees with the emerald ash borer.

More than 1,000 Highland Park trees with the deadly emerald ash borer are expected to be cut down in 2015, the Highland Park News reports.
According to city forester Joe O’Neill, 1,000 were cut down by city crews in 2014, and an additional 1,000 to 1,4000 could be coming down this year. He said most of the 2,000 to 3,000 trees planted from the early 1970s to early 1990s are targeted for removal.
With $150,000 of the city budget spent on tree removal last year, the budget for that item is set at $173,000 in 2015.
