New City Manager Gets 5-Year Contract, Residency Waiver

New City Manager Gets 5-Year Contract, Residency Waiver

Highland Park’s incoming city manager, Ghida Neukirch, received a five-year contract as well as a waiver of the city’s residency requirementfrom the Highland Park City Council, the Highland Park News reports.

Neukirch is currently the deputy city manager. She will take over the new job on Nov. 4 when City Manager David Knapp retires after more than 50 years of public service.

Neukirch has 21 years of municipal government experience, including 13 in Buffalo Grove. She came to Highland Park in 2012.

Her starting salary in the new role will be $185,000 plus an annual $4,100 car allowance, the Highland Park News story says. The city council waived its residency requirement so that Neukirch, who lives in Arlington Heights with her family, will not be required to live in Highland Park.
