PM Prime Steakhouse in Highwood Goes Mad for "Mad Men"
Beginning April 8, PM Prime in Highwood will celebrate the final season of AMC's popular television series Mad Men with supper club events.

Beginning April 7, PM Prime in Highwood will celebrate the final season of AMC’s popular television series Mad Men by extending its Supper Club menu to five nights a week – Tuesday thru Saturday evenings through the end of May. The Supper Club menu features 1960s favorites and retro prices with entrees starting at $12. PM Prime will transport guests to a romantic time and place where Mad Men’s Don Draper and Roger Sterling wooed clients with their ad men magic. Silk suits have been replaced by favorite jeans and loafers, but Sinatra still sets the mood as he croons in the background. PM Prime owner and Chief Experience Officer Steve Platcow, is responsible for the ambiance. Diners are surrounded by stunning vintage photos of the history of aviation including the Apollo missions of the 1960s, Sputnik inspired lighting fixtures, white linen tablecloths and black leather upholstered seating. Mad man and ad man Platcow, a Lake Forest resident, has perfected his craft in the world of advertising for the past twenty-five years as CEO of RPM Advertising in Chicago. “I’ve been a loyal fan of the Mad Men series since it debuted in 2006. I thought it would be fun to recreate a fine dining experience from that bygone era, right down to the classic cocktails. It was a glamorous time.” PM Prime Executive Chef Dominic Zumpano has prepared a menu that honors timeless American cuisine. Dine on supper club favorites such as Prime Rib, Leg of Lamb, White Fish or a French Dip Sandwich. Appetizers include Oysters Rockefeller and the classic of all classics French Onion Soup. There’s also a delicious Pie ala Mode or a decadent Chocolate Crème Brulee. The menu isn’t the only thing that harkens back to a simpler time - prices reflect the Mad Men era with a Prime Steak Sandwich for only $12 or a Dry Aged Burger for $15. PM Prime launched its Supper Club menu in February, and the concept has been very well received. Restaurant guests have been getting into the theme and ordering classic drinks like Manhattans and Harvey Wallbangers. Guests can also order Don Draper’s favorite drink, an Old Fashioned, or Roger Sterling’s famous Dry Martini. And there is Betty’s fave – a Vodka Gimlet or Joan’s cocktail of choice – a Blue Hawaiian. Everyone’s favorite ad-biz-glass-ceiling-breaker Peggy has been known to order a Bloody Mary or Scotch on the Rocks as her beverage of choice, depending on how office politics have played out in the script that day. PM Prime’s sommelier Bob Bansberg, who spent many years at Chicago’s Pump Room pairing the right beverage with the right entrée, is always available to make a recommendation. In addition to the supper club menu, PM Prime will continue to offer its full menu which includes an excellent selection of prime steaks, along with seafood and poultry dishes creatively interpreted by Chef Zumpano. PM Prime is located at 310 Green Bay Road, Highwood.
