Body Identified As Missing Lockport Man: Coroner

The body was identified as missing Lockport man Sean Joy, who was reported missing on March 22.

LOCKPORT, IL — A body found in the Des Plaines River on Friday has been identified as missing Lockport man Sean Joy. According to the Will County Coroner's Office, Joy's body was found in the Des Plaines River just south of the Ruby Street Bridge in Joliet.

The Will County Sheriff's Office began the search for a body after a human leg was discovered in the Lockport Lock on April 11. The body and the leg were positively identified as Joy's through dental comparison, the coroner's office said in a release.

Joy, 20, was reported missing by his family on March 22. Family was concerned when he went missing, saying it was not normal behavior for him.

An autopsy was conducted Saturday, and Joy was pronounced deceased on Friday at 12:10 p.m., the coroner's office said. The Will County Sheriff's Office will continue to investigate the incident, and the final cause and manner of death are pending further investigation and a toxicology report.
