Sheep Killed In Barn Fire: Lockport Fire District

The fire caused the barn to collapse and was a total loss while the adjacent metal pole building also had significant damage.

LOCKPORT, IL — Several sheep were killed in a barn fire in unincorporated Lockport Township Friday, the Lockport Township Fire Protection District said. The initial report came in at 3:11 a.m. Friday for a reported barn fire in the 2500 block of South Farrell Road.

The district said crews arrived to find a barn, approximately 50 feet by 100 feet, fully involved in fire. The fire had also extended to the adjoining metal pole building on the property.

According to the district, the barn where the fire started was used to house numerous sheep, all of which died in the fire. The fire caused the barn to collapse and was a total loss while the adjacent metal pole building also had significant damage.

Crews spent three hours on the scene due to a large amount of overhaul that was needed to extinguish the fire, the district said.
