The president and first lady have made their selection, the Chicago Tribune reports.

CHICAGO, IL — The Barack Obama Presidential Library will be in Chicago’s Jackson Park neighborhood.

President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama made the selection recently, and a formal announcement is expected to come next week, a source told the Chicago Tribune.

The Obama Presidential Center location will be in the park just east of the University of Chicago, where the president taught law for many years. The Obamas also own a home in the nearby Kenwood neighborhood.

Jackson Park, a 543-acre park known as the “gateway to the South Side,” beat out finalist Washington Park for the selection.

The University of Chicago commissioned a study by Anderson Economic Group that concluded the Obama Library would create 1,900 permanent jobs and 3,280 construction jobs and bring $220 million in annual economic impact to the region. Annual visitors are projected at 800,000 people.
