Convicted Domestic Abuser Facing New Felony Domestic Violence Charges

Court records indicate Scott A. Kalkis grabbed his wife by the neck in late June. He spent time in jail for another domestic crime in 2015.

JOLIET, IL - In 2015, Scott A. Kalkis got his first conviction for domestic battery. This summer, Kalkis finds himself in far more serious trouble with Will County's legal system. His last conviction was a misdemeanor. Now, the 35-year-old man, who lists an address in the 20800 block of South Humboldt in Frankfort, faces two felony domestic battery counts, plus one felony count of possession of controlled substances.

According to the criminal complaint, Kalkis grabbed his wife by her neck on June 22, making physical contact in an insulting or provoking nature. The drug charge states that Kalkis "knowingly and unlawfully possessed a substance containing cocaine ..." Joliet's police department investigated the incident, court records show.

Kalkis, who remains in the Will County Adult Detention Facility, appeared in Will County Circuit Court last week for an arraignment. He is being represented by attorney Patty Kalkanis of The Tomczak Law Group, court records show. The judge set the defendant's latest case of domestic violence for an Oct. 2 jury trial. Meanwhile, Kalkis has been restricted from visiting his wife's residence on Woodhill Court in Plainfield.
