Downtown Bridges Temporarily Closed Due to Ice

Precipitation and falling temps made the bridges very slippery Monday night, requiring their closure so they could be salted down, Joliet police said.

Downtown Bridges Temporarily Closed Due to Ice
The city of Joliet was forced to close some of the downtown bridges Monday night in order to get them adequately salted due to the icing conditions being caused by the precipitation and the dropping temperatures.

As of 8:30 p.m., the Ruby Street and McDonough Street bridges had been reopened and the Jackson and Cass street bridges were to reopen by 9:30 p.m., a Joliet Police Department spokesman said.
