Father-Son Pink Floyd tribute to perform in Joliet on Aug 14
Group features two generations of a musical family

The Pink Floyd tribute band called “In the Flesh – echoes of Pink Floyd” will perform this Friday , August 14th, at the Tree of Joliet (formerly Mojoes). The group features two generations of a musical family.
In addition to a lineup of well known Chicago-area musicians, ranging in ages from 23 to 50, the band is lead by Paul Willaert of St. Charles on guitar, and his son, Mac Willaert, on keyboards. “It’s great; we really enjoy the opportunity to share the music of a great band we both love,” says the elder Willaert. “Mac was a toddler when this band started, and now he’s our keyboardist! It just blows my mind.”
Paul has been a fixture on the Chicago music scene since the late 1980s, when he and vocalist Pete Papageorge formed the original lineup of In the Flesh. His son graduated with a degree in music from North Central College in Naperville, and received national attention when he came in second in the band Queen Extravaganza talent competition.
“Their music is every bit as cool as it was 30-plus years ago, and it deserves the high energy level we bring to it,” Paul says of Pink Floyd’s songs. “Of course, we still pull out all the classic bells and whistles — we bring all the sound effects, lights, lasers, everything a Floyd fan could ask for — to every performance. But the band really appeals to a broad range of people of all ages, because we have a lot of fun with it. And we make sure the audience has fun too; we treat it like a celebration. ”
In the Flesh will take the stage at 9 p.m, For more information on tickets and the venue, visit http://www.eventbrite.com/e/in-the-flesh-a-tribute-to-pink-floyd-the-tre....
