Illinois State Police to Conduct Roadside Safety Checks

Officers will be on the lookout for traffic offenders in Will County during the month of July.

Illinois State Police to Conduct Roadside Safety Checks
Officers with  District 5 of the Illinois State Police will conduct roadside safety checks in Will County during the month of July, according to a news release issued by trooper DeAnn Falat.

In the release, she said the ISP will follow a no-tolerance policy for impaired driving in Illinois. She said officers will be on the lookout for drivers who are operating vehicles in an unsafe manner, driving with suspended or revoked driver's license, transporting open alcoholic beverages or driving under the influence (DUI).

Falat said alcohol and drug impairment are a significant factor in nearly 40 percent of all fatal motor vehicle crashes in Illinois. She said road side safety checks are designed to keep Illinois roads safe by taking dangerous DUI offenders off the roads.

In the news release, Falat said this project is funded through the  Illinois Department of Transportation/Division of Traffic Safety.
