Posen Gunmen Dive Into Bed & Pretend To Be Asleep But Can't Fool Cops: Police

The men hid their gun under a mattress before pretending they were asleep, police said.

A pair of Posen men dove into bed and pretended to be asleep after firing a gun early Sunday morning, police said.

Bryan Duarte, 21, and Lucio Duarte, 20, both were charged with the aggravated discharge of a firearm. Lucio Duarte was also charged with the aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and the possession of ammunition without a firearm owner’s identification card.

Officers investigating a report of shots fired about 4:45 a.m. followed footsteps through the snow to a residence on East Washington Street. They then found the Duartes “faking sleep” in an upstairs bedroom. The two men were fully clothed and wearing shoes, police said, and their shoes and clothes were wet.

The tread on the men’s shoes also matched the footprints in the snow, police said.

When they poked around further officers reportedly found a handgun under the mattress, as well as rubber gloves and a ski mask.
