Pregnant Joliet Woman Dragged By Car During Battle Over Baby: Police

An Indiana woman was charged with both kidnapping and aggravated battery in connection with the attack.

A seven-months-pregnant Joliet woman was dragged by a car while trying to stop her boyfriend’s ex-wife from taking away his 2-year-old, police said.

The mother of the 2-year-old, Sandra Magana-Ortiz, 31, of Elkhart, IN, was charged with aggravated battery, the aggravated battery of a pregnant woman and kidnapping in connection with the 11:45 a.m. Tuesday incident.

Magana-Ortiz’s ex-husband has custody of their children but she was allowed to pay them a visit at their Wheeler Avenue home, police said.
