A Minooka man was killed in a Saturday afternoon wreck that sent five other people to area hospitals.

Motorcyclist Ronald Oswald, 57, of Minooka, died at Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora following the crash at Route 126 and County Line Road.

The 2:30 p.m. collision involved a Dodge Durango sport utility vehicle, a Nissan Altima and the Harley-Davidson motorcycle.

Illinois State Police Sgt. Martez Malone said the car was about to turn south on County Line Road from westbound Route 126 when it was struck from behind by the SUV. The impact forced the car into the eastbound lane, where it struck Oswald's motorcycle.

Six ambulances transported victims to three area hospitals following the crash, according to Deputy Chief Jon Stratton.

A family of four riding in the Nissan — a mother, father, infant and a toddler — had to be extricated from the vehicle and were taken to Silver Cross Hospital. The father and the two children were listed in serious condition following the crash, while the mother was in critical condition.

"She had some pretty extensive injuries — I don't believe life threatening, though," Stratton said.

The driver of the Durango, who was reportedly ejected from the vehicle, was taken to Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital. Stratton said the SUV rolled over several times during the crash.

assisted state troopers in handling traffic in the wake of the wreck.

On Sunday, Malone said the cause of the crash remained undetermined.
