Tire Iron-Wielding Attacker Shot in Abdomen Outside Joliet Bar: Police
Passengers in a vehicle tried to find a hospital for the 28-year-old Bolingbrook man, but ended up calling for help.

JOLIET, IL — A 28-year-old Bolingbrook man was shot Wednesday night after trying to attack another man with a tire iron.
The incident occurred at around 11:30 p.m. at Lety’s Place at 901 N. Hickory St., Joliet Police Captain Jeff Allbert said.
An unknown man was standing outside the bar when a vehicle full of people pulled up and a Bolingbrook man jumped out and ran at him with a tire iron, Allbert said. The unknown man then pulled out a gun and shot him in the abdomen.

The shot man then went back to the car. Police were called after the other passengers were unable to find a hospital for him.
“They’re not from around here and they ended up calling police and fire,” Allbert said. “The last that I knew he was shot in the abdomen and unconscious. I don’t know what his condition is now.”

According to a police report available to him, Allbert said it’s unknown if the man who did the shooting has been caught. It’s also unknown why he was targeted.
The tire iron-wielding man has not yet been charged with any offense. Police are still investigating the incident.
