USF's Pat Sullivan to Talk 'Attitude' at March 26 Event
The longtime basketball coach will discuss his newly published book.
Local sports celebrity and longtime University of St. Francis (USF) basketball coach Pat Sullivan will discuss his recently published book “Attitude – The Cornerstone of Leadership” at a reception Wednesday, March 26.
Sullivan, who has coached hundreds of students, presents his book as a “Practical Guide for Leaders.” He asserts that “being a leader is all about attitude” and expounds on the acronym ATTITUDE, with “a” for the acronym itself followed by “teamwork, toughness, intelligence, thank you, you, determination, and effort - is everything you need in order to lead people, not by words but by the inspiring way in which you conduct yourself and show up every day ready to listen, learn and grow.”
Sullivan was named Coach of the Year at the conference and state levels on 12 occasions and Coach of the Tournament in the National Catholic Basketball Tournament in 1986. He has spoken at coaches clinics for the USA Coaching Clinics and has presented clinics and camps in Belgium, Austria, Ireland and Greece. He has spoken to businesses throughout the country.

The Joliet Region Chamber of Commerce and Industry presented him with the Lifetime Achievement Award. He also received the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association Buzzy O'Connor Award for lifetime contributions to Illinois basketball.
The University of St. Francis honored him by naming its recreation center as the Pat Sullivan Center.

The coach’s presentation, sponsored by the USF Alumni Association, will be at 7 p.m. in San Damiano Hall in Donovan Hall at the university’s Motherhouse. A book signing and dessert reception will follow. Books will be available for purchase.
