Waste Management Truck Catches Fire

The Joliet truck was carrying a load of garbage which caught on fire from inside.

A Waste Management truck caught fire on Maple Rd and Draper Ave. around 9:30 a.m. Thursday, according to Joliet Deputy Chief Ed Gregory.

The truck was carrying a load of garbage and something inside it had caught on fire, Gregory said. The driver of the truck called the fire department and dumped the load on the street. It is unknown what exactly caused the fire.

When the fire department arrived, there was a large pile of trash on the road on fire, which the fire department put out. Afterward, a bobcat utility work machine was called in to pick up the debris on the roadway.
