Woman Arrested for Stalking Bartender, Police Say

Rosaura Diaz was ordered not to have any contact with the victim, yet showed up at her job three times Saturday night, Joliet police said.

Woman Arrested for Stalking Bartender, Police Say
A Joliet woman was arrested Saturday after she repeatedly returned to a tavern and stared menacingly at the bartender who had taken out an order of protection against her, according to Joliet police.

Cmdr. Al. Roechner said Rosaura Diaz, 51, of 417 Elwood, had been ordered by a judge to stay away from the 27-year-old female bartender after Diaz allegedly attacked the woman in September and was arrested on a battery charge.

Diaz violated that order Saturday night when she went to Puerto Escondido, 509 N. Chicago St., sat at the bar and stared at the bartender while she was working, he said.

The bartender threatened to call the police, prompting Diaz to leave, Roechner said. When she returned a second time, the same scene took place and Diaz left again, he said. However, the bartender did call police, who were there when Diaz returned a third time, he said.

When Diaz was escorted away by officers, she reportedly yelled at the bartender, "You son of a b----, you are going to pay for this," Roechner said.

Diaz was charged with aggravated stalking and violating an order of protection. She was released from Will County jail on $10,000 bond.
