Body Found in Des Plaines River in Maywood

MAYWOOD, IL — The Illinois State Police are investigating a body that was discovered in the Des Plaines River. According to a release, crews cleaning debris from the river near Washington Street and First Avenue in Maywood discovered the body at 1 p.m. today.

Divers from the Maywood and Pleasant View Fire Departments are currently working to recover the body from the river, police said.

Police said the autopsy is scheduled for this week. According to a release, the incident remains under investigation.
