Mecenat's 'Chocolate Molten Lava Cake' Makes WGN's 'Chicago's Best'

The hosts of WGN’s “Chicago’s Best” are eating their way through the south suburbs and will be making a stop in Western Springs this Thursday.

Hosts Brittney Payton and Elliot Brambough will be taping at Mecenat Bistro and Wine Shop at 821 W. Burlington Ave., Western Springs.

General Manager Kelly Hogan (her dad, Jack, owns the restaurant) Payton and Brambough are coming for Mecenat’s chocolate molten lava cake.

“It’s a chocolate cake that’s ooey gooey chocolate in the center,” general manager Kelly Hogan says, “topped with Tahitian vanilla gelato with kumquat marmalade.”

Mecenat has been open for over three years. The restaurant serves contemporary American cuisine with European influences.

“We put our own twist on modern day foods,” Kelly Hogan said.

The “Chicago’s Best” crew will parachute in at 4 p.m. Thursday. Mecenat will be open during the taping.

The Mecenat segment will air May 18 on “Chicago’s Best.”
