Two men have been charged with a series of home and car burglaries in Lake Forest in late April and early May, Lake Forest Police said Friday.
The men went into as many as eight homes while residents were asleep and stole electronics as well as four cars, the department said in a post on its Facebook page.
Marquis Jones, 21, of North Chicago, and Everett Robinson, 19, of Winthrop Harbor, were both charged with residential burglary, felony theft, criminal trespass to residence and unlawful possession of a stolen vehicle.
The two were taken into custody May 9 by police in Zion after an incident in that town. Lake Forest detectives, who had already seen surveillance video implicating the men, then questioned them about the Lake Forest burglaries.
Police said they learned that the pair would look for garage door remotes in unlocked cars and then open the garages. Once inside, they would enter the homes and look for vehicle keys and other electronics.
They are being held at Lake County Jail on $100,000 bond.
