Lake Forest Cell Phone Ban 'Grace Period' In Effect

Starting Oct. 1 drivers who violate will receive a ticket, The Lake Forester reports

As of Sept. 1 the law, which bans using hand-held devices while driving, will be lightly enforced for one month. During this grace period, Lake Forest Police will only be issuing "warnings" to offenders, according to The Sun-Times.


After the month, "fines will be $100 for the first offense, $200 for the second and $300 for each offense thereafter."

Meanwhile hands-free devices or speaker usage, will not be ticketed.
