LFSA Team Wins 2nd Straight State Title

The Lake Forest Soccer Association (LFSA) U13 Girls Select Team defeated Galaxy SC 3-1 to win the IL Girls U13 State Championship last weekend, marking the the second consecutive state championship for the team that won it all as U12s last year.

During this year’s State Cup tournament, LFSA went 5-0-0 (17 GF and 3 GA) including a 3-1 semi-final win over FC United.

The squad, coached by Oktay Akgun, includes four US National Training, two Midwest Region Pool and eight Illinois State ODP Pool players and is currently ranked #1 in the State, #4 in the Midwest and #18 in the Nation. Over the last two and a half years, the team has posted a 43-1-1 record against U13 IL teams with a four-goal average margin of victory.

The team, which will compete later this month in the Midwest Regional championships in Wisconsin, has members from Lake Forest, Lake Bluff, Northbrook, Evanston, Buffalo Grove, Deerfield and Libertyville.

They are: Alyssa Marquis, Anya Kavanagh, Bridget Mitchell, Callista O’Connor, Emily Paton, Emma Manolovic, Halle Douglass, Ingrid Falls, Julia Loeger, Malori Killoren, Margaret Buchert, Nicole Doucette, Paige Copeland, Quinn Sokol, Sarah Bires, Sophia Divagno and assistant coach, Kevin Killoren.
