Man Pulled Over with Brass Knuckles in Car, Police Say
The following information is from the Lake Forest Police Department. An arrest is not an indication of guilt.

Driving with a suspended license

An officer stopped Keith T. Hayes, 31, of Highwood at Westleigh and Buena at 3:30 a.m. May 14 for driving with expired registration and took him into custody when he was found to be driving on a suspended license. He was released on $1,500 bond with a June 3 court date.

An officer stopped Jordan T. Miller, 23, of Kenosha, for improper lane usage May 14 at 12:30 a.m. at Waukegan and Knollwood roads and took him into custody when the officer learned he was driving on a suspended license. He was charged with that, as well as improper lane usage and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. He was released on $1,500 bond with a June 3 court date.

Leticia Ortiz, 31, of Highland Park, was stopped for driving without a headlight at 12:30 p.m. May 1 and taken into custody when she was found to be driving on a suspended license. She was released on $1,500 bond and given a June 3 court date.

Stolen registration sticker

An officer stopped William C. Jones, 57, of North Chicago, for a registration violation at 10 p.m. May 11 at Route 41 and Deerpath when the offer saw that the registration sticker on his car did not register to that car. The officer learned that the sticker had been reported stolen by a Zion resident. Jones was charged with theft, driving on a suspended license, expired registration and improper display of registration. He was released on $1,500 bond with a June 3 court date.

Warrant arrest

An officer responded to the East Train Station for a complaint about a possible intoxicated person. The officer spoke with Melvin T. Grover, 59, of Aurora, who police learned had an active warrant from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office for retail theft.

Unlawful use of a weapon

An officer stopped Rolando, Cantu-Garcia, 33, of Waukegan at 2:30 a.m. May 10 at Route 41 and Deerpath for driving without headlights. He was taken into custody when drug paraphernalia and a set of brass knuckles were found in the car. He was charged with unlawful use of a weapon and possession of drug paraphernalia, released on $2,000 bond and given a June 17 court date.
