Suspicious package was an empty video camera case.

 The all-clear has been issued at following an investigation into a suspicious package found outside the main entrance.

Jean Malek, director of communications and community relations for the district, said the bomb squad arrived at 8:50 a.m. today and it was determined that the suspicious package was an empty video camera case.

Classes are set to resume at 10 a.m., said Malek.

Cmdr. David Bradstreet said police were called to the scene at 5:59 a.m. following a report of a "suspicious briefcase-type package" near the upper lot of the high school. Police officials summoned a bomb squad from the Waukegan Fire Department to the scene.

Fire Chief Dave Wheelock said the was called to the scene, where they remain in a supporting role.

Students who are arriving at the high school for classes are being gathered in the cafeteria, which is far from the location of the package, said Jean Malek, director of communications and community relations for .

"We are in an incident command structure," Malek said, adding that the district is taking direction from public safety officials. She's unsure of when classes will resume at the high school.

"It's going to be a wait-and-see, depending on when we get the all-clear," said Malek.
