Police Blotter: DUI, Failing to Yield to Emergency Vehicle

These incidents were among the official reports of the Lake Zurich Police Department. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that decision.

Police Blotter: DUI, Failing to Yield to Emergency Vehicle

 

Traffic Arrest (DUI)                                 

On Oct. 2, at 11:21 p.m., Jaime R. Garcia, 61, 3019 Max Court Island Lake, was arrested for DUI pursuant to a traffic stop on Route 12 at North Old Rand Road.  Garcia failed all field sobriety tests.  Garcia was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving with a blood alcohol content greater than .08, driving without a valid driver’s license, operating an uninsured vehicle, improper lane usage, speeding and failing to yield to an emergency vehicle.  Garcia was released on a $3,000 personal recognizance bond with a Waukegan court date of Oct. 29

Burglary – Motor Vehicle                         

On Oct. 4, a complainant reported finding several boxes of snack food in her yard in the 1100 block of Cardinal Drive.  Officers checked the area and discovered that a box truck parked behind 7-11 had been entered.  The items were removed from the truck and stacked in the 1100 block of Cardinal Drive.  The items were recovered and the victim was notified.  Further action pending.  

On Sept. 30, a complainant reported that unknown subject(s) entered her unlocked vehicle during the overnight hours and removed a wallet and $100.  The vehicle was parked in the 1200 block of Cedar Creek Drive.  Further action pending. 

 On Oct. 1, a resident reported that unknown subject(s) entered his unlocked vehicle in the 1000 block of Cedar Creek Drive during the overnight hours and removed his water bill.  Further action pending. 

On Oct. 1, a complainant reported that unknown subject(s) entered his unlocked vehicle in the 900 block of Manchester Court during the overnight hours and removed an iPod and loose change.  Loss is estimated at $231.  Further action pending.

Traffic Arrest (Revoked)             

Eddy O. Buckley, 34, 1587 East Ports O Call Drive #1B, Palatine, was arrested pursuant to a traffic stop in the 700 block of South Rand Road, at 6:14 p.m., Sept. 30.  Buckley was charged with disobeying a traffic control device and driving with a revoked driver’s license (enhanced). Buckley was also arrested on a failure-to-appear warrant issued by Lake County.  

Hector G. Madrigal, 20, 660 East Liberty Street Wauconda, was arrested for DWLR pursuant to a traffic stop on Route 12 at Rugby Road, 2:11 p.m., Oct. 2.  Madrigal was charged with operating a vehicle with tinted windows and driving with a revoked driver’s license.  Madrigal was released on a $1,500.00 personal recognizance bond with a Mundelein court date of Nov. 2. Madrigal was also  arrested on a valid arrest warrant for a failure to appear warrant issued in Lake County.  Madrigal was released after posting $2,500.  Madrigal has a Waukegan court date of Oct. 16.

Traffic Arrest (No Valid)                             

On Oct. 2, Edenir Mendez (33 yoa) 4011 Long Acre Lane Island Lake, was arrested for driving with no valid drivers license pursuant to a traffic stop on Mohawk Trail at South Old Rand Road.  Mendez was charged with speeding and driving without a valid driver’s license.  Mendez was released on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond with a Mundelein court date of Nov. 2.

Traffic Arrest (Suspended)             

On Oct. 3, Marilda E. Bertolli, 20, 5189 North Monterey Street Norridge, was arrested for DWLS pursuant to a traffic stop on Route 12 at Wynstone Drive.  Bertolli was charged with operating a vehicle without head lamps when required and driving with a suspended driver’s license.  Bertolli was released on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond with a Mundelein court date of Nov. 2.

Unlawful Use of Weapons               

John D. Marzec, 21, 26692 Country Estates Road Barrington,  was arrested for unlawful use of weapon pursuant to a traffic stop on Route 12 at Clover Hill Lane, at 9:54 p.m., Oct. 2.  A loaded pistol was discovered inside Marzec’s vehicle.  Marzec was charged with unlawful use of weapons and operating a vehicle with no valid registration.  Marzec was released on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond with a Waukegan court date of Nov. 5.   

Criminal Defacement                                  

On Oct. 1, a resident reported that unknown subject(s) wrote a message on her garage door in the 1200 block of Berkshire Lane during the overnight hours.  Damage is estimated at $350.  This matter is under investigation.

Criminal Damage to Property                                                        

On Oct. 2, a complainant reported that unknown subjects entered his temporary locker while he was in the 1000 block of Old McHenry Road and removed his wallet and U.S.C.  Loss is estimated at $20.00.  

Theft                                                          

On Oct. 2, a complainant reported that unknown subjects entered his temporary locker while he was in the 1000 block of Old McHenry Road and removed his gym bag and other personal property.  Value of loss is unknown.  Further action pending.
