While the lake effect snow advisory is cancelled, the nasty winter weather isn't over.

A winter weather advisory will be in effect from 4 p.m. Friday to 9 a.m. Saturday, according to the National Weather Service.

Blowing and drifting snow could begin Friday afternoon, with with blizzard-like conditions Friday evening through early Saturday.

Watch out for wind gusts of up to 35 mph Friday morning, with blowing and drifting of snow reducing visibility to near zero at times, according to the NWS. Use caution especially when traveling in open areas. While the threat of more snow is unlikely, blowing and drifting snow could create blizzard-like conditions for evening commuters, according to the National Weather Service. Wind speeds could be around 20 to 25 mph with gusts reaching 35 mph, the agency added.

Wind chill values could hit as low as -19 Friday.

Saturday, there's a 50 percent chance of snow, mainly after noon, with a high near 31 and wind chill values as low as 1. Winds could gust as high as 30 mph, according to the NWS.

Expect a 40 percent chance of snow Sunday, with a high near 12 and a low around -11 Sunday night. 

School frozen out?

On Monday, the NWS is predicting a high around -9 degrees, and a low Monday night of around -16.

Lemont High School will open as scheduled. No word yet from Lemont-Bromberek District 113A. Districts will monitor weather conditions and adjust as needed.
