Libertyville Police Squad Car Starts on Fire

Foul play is not suspected in the blaze, authorities said.

LIBERTYVILLE, IL — A Libertyville Police Department squad car started on fire Saturday evening, authorities said. The blaze was reported at 5:30 p.m. and happened while the police squad car was parked at the rear of the Libertyville Police Department, according to a news release from the Libertyville Police Department.

The vehicle had just been parked and was unattended for only moments before the fire was detected, according to police.

The Libertyville Fire Department responded and was able to extinguish the fire.

No one was injured and the cause of the fire is under investigation. At this time, foul play is not suspected, police said.
