Village invests $63,000 in five state-of-art systems.

Libertyville Upgrades Commuter Parking Pay Stations

Commuters at Libertyville’s two Metra stations will soon enjoy new upgraded parking pay stations that will be more user friendly for patrons and offer the ability to handle both cash and time-saving credit/debt card transactions.

For the past several months village staff has been exploring the possibilities of upgrading commuter parking pay stations both at the North Central (downtown Milwaukee Avenue) and Harris Road/Prairie Crossing Metra train stations.

Staff recommended Total Parking Solutions Inc., of Downers Grove, as offering the best equipment in user friendliness, enforcement, and low maintenance, major criteria required by the Village.

“Included in the specifications was the ability to accept credit cards for payment of daily parking fees, along with the ability to pay through the use of a cell phone application,” according to both Kelly Amidei, assistant village administrator, and Patricia Wesolowski, director of finance.

The proposals required that costs be broken out for a one-time cost of equipment, along with annual costs for software, connectivity and machine maintenance, As a result, four bidders were found acceptable, and three firms were invited to meet with a village committee to review their proposal, demonstrate equipment, and respond to questions.

Based upon a variety of cost, equipment and site visits Total Parking Solutions Inc. was deemed best suited to meet the village’s needs through a Cale Pay by Space Terminal XL system.

“We currently provide service and maintenance for over 40 local municipalities with multi-space parking terminals in operation,” according to Tom Zawacki, company co-owner and president of sales and marketing.

The flexible machines come with numerous software and hardware features suitable for functioning in all types of climates, can accommodate credit/debit cards, and offers a pay by phone system.

Five machines will be ordered. Three will be used at the Harris Road/Prairie Crossing rail station, and two will be located at the North Central (Milwaukee Ave.) station. Purchase costs will run about $12,600 per machine, or $63,000 for the five machines. Maintenance contract service costs will be additional, running about $4,900 per machine over a five-year period.
