Resident Donates AEDs to Libertyville Police Department

Resident Donates AEDs to Libertyville Police Department
A Libertyville resident has donated six Automatic External Defibrillators to the Libertyville Police Department, which will allow the village to replace six of its AEDs that were over eight years old and add two new units to its fleet, according to a village press release.

The resident requested to remain anonymous.  The HeartStart Defibrillators, which are produced by Philips, are similar to those already deployed elsewhere in the village.

The newer models are also equipped to handle emergencies involving children.

“It’s wonderful to have one of our residents provide such a generous donation," said Libertyville Police Chief Clint Herdegen in a news release. "This will enable us to put an AED in each of our patrol cars deployed on the street, including supervisory vehicles, plus replace those strategically placed in the police station. Although thankfully we haven’t had to use an AED in the recent past, it is comforting to know they are available anytime we have to respond to that type of emergency.”
