LIBERTYVILLE, IL — A school bus driver suffered a heart attack and died before he ran into three parked cars Tuesday evening in Libertyville, Lake County Coroner Howard Cooper said in a news release Friday. The bus driver has been identified as Thomas Lee, 75, of Grayslake. Preliminary autopsy results show a heart attack caused Lee’s death, according to a news release.
The low-speed crash happened at 310 W. Rockland Avenue at 5:42 p.m., authorities said.
Police officers first at the scene performed CPR on the driver who was then taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center. Medical staff performed advanced life saving measures, which did not work, authorities said, and the bus driver was pronounced dead at the hospital.
