'Despondent' Man with Gun Taken into Police Custody

The man was later taken to a local hospital for evaluation.

NAPERVILLE, IL — A ‘despondent’ man walking with a gun in the 1500 block of Fairway Ave. Tuesday evening was taken into custody without incident.

According to Naperville police, officers responded to Fairway for a report of a ‘despondent Naperville resident’ at around 7:48 p.m. Officers learned the man had a gun and was walking in the area. The man was said to be in his 30s.

After an extensive search by multiple police officers, the man and weapon were located, police said.

The man was taken into protective custody without incident and transported to a local hospital for treatment.

No criminal charges have been filed at this time and no injuries were reported.
