Fundraiser for Naperville Woman Who Lost Foot in Chicago Biking Accident

"She's very strong and positive," her father said. "She's accepted what's happened."

An outpouring of support is being shown for a former Naperville woman who had to have her foot amputated after a truck crashed into her while she was riding her bike in Chicago.

A GoFundMe page asking for $50,000 has raised more than $20,000 so far and is growing by the day.

Danielle Palagi, 26, is a special education teacher for Easter Seals. Her father, Larry Palagi, said she’s a great teacher and is pretty tough.

Larry said his daughter was struck by the truck after he failed to use his directional signal.

“She assumed he was going straight but he turned,” Larry said. “She’s got a lot of injuries, but will survive. Her elbow has a lot of damage. Her pelvis is broken.”

It’s going to be a long recovery for her, but that’s not stopping her from remaining upbeat.

“She’s very strong and positive,” Larry said. “She’s accepted what’s happened.”
