Helicopter to Aid Construction of Promenade East Saturday; Road, Parking Deck Closures Expected Downtown

Helicopter to Aid Construction of Promenade East Saturday; Road, Parking Deck Closures Expected Downtown

The following information comes from a city of Naperville press release.

Contractors working on the Main Street Promenade East development will be using a helicopter to place HVAC mechanical rooftop units on the roof of the building at 50 S. Main St. beginning at 7 a.m. on Saturday, April 5.

Staging for the work will begin at 6 a.m. Due to the nature of the work and to maintain safety in the area, several temporary street closures are expected while the work is being performed.

Van Buren Avenue from the Van Buren Parking Deck to just west of Main Street will be closed as well as Main Street just south of Van Buren Avenue. Main Street between Benton and Van Buren avenues has been closed since September of 2013 for construction on the development and will continue to be closed to all traffic until later this year.

While the Van Buren Parking Deck will remain open on April 5 while work is being performed, access to the top floor of the deck will be closed until the work is completed.

Work is expected to be complete by 8 a.m., pending weather and unforeseen circumstances. For the safety of the public, both pedestrians and motorists are encouraged to avoid the area while the work is in progress.
