Driving under the influence

Erik Dimitri Pachnik, 33, of the 1300 block of Fairfield Court was arrested at 4:01 a.m. in the 1700 block of Kenyon Drive and Auburn Avenue, police said. He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, failure to reduce speed/driving too fast for conditions, not having his driver’s license on his person, operating an uninsured vehicle and failure to give aid/information. His bail was set at $3,000.

Resisting an officer

Vladimir Reyes-Fernandez, 27, of the 200 block of Magnolia Drive, Aurora, was arrested at 12:22 a.m. in the 20 block of East Chicago Avenue, police said. She was charged with resisting a peace officer, battery and battery with intent to do bodily harm. Bail was set at $1,500.

Suspended license

David Michael Atherton, 40, of the 10 block of S120 Ridge Road was arrested at 9:35 p.m. at Plainfield/Naperville Road and West Bailey Road where he was charged with failing to notify the secretary of state of an address change, speeding over the limit and driving with a suspended license, according to police. His bail was set at $1,500.

Street racing

Nichola Anthony Sciortino, 21, of the 2300 block of Lexington Lane was arrested at 9:45 p.m. at his home and charged with speeding 40-plus miles over the speed limit and street racing, police said. His bail was set at $5,000. A judge dismissed the case after an officer failed to appear and a continuance was denied.

Public urination

Luis Jimenez Salmeron, 31, of the 800 block of North Loomis Street was arrested at 7:38 p.m. in the 20 block of East Chicago Avenue and charged with public urination and arrested on an active warrant. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail. Police said he urinated on the exterior window/wall of after being kicked out of .


A 54-year-old man in the 900 block of Gateshead Drive reported that between 10 p.m. Wednesday and 6 a.m. Thursday that property was taken from his open garage, police said.

A 46-year-old man in the 3000 block of Blazingstar Court reported that between 10 p.m. Wednesday and 7 a.m. Thursday lacrosse balls were stolen and the net was moved from the side yard into the road on Highknob Circle, according to police.

A 40-year-old man in the 1400 block of Plainfield/Naperville Road reported that between 6 p.m. Tuesday and 9:19 .m. on Thursday someone took the oil pan off a 1999 Audi, police said. The oil pan was valued at $60.

Property damage

A 34-year-old woman in the 2700 block of Springdale Circle reported that between 11 p.m. Wednesday and 7:30 a.m. Thursday that her mailbox was smashed, police said.

Someone reported in the 1200 block of Sanctuary Lane that a window on the south side of the school was broken overnight, police said. Damage was estimated at $50.

Police said a 38-year-old woman in the 3500 block of Frankstowne Court reported Thursday that the brass mailbox flag was broken off her mailbox between 4 p.m. Saturday at 4 p.m. and noon Monday.

A 50-year-old woman in the 1800 block of River Ridge Circle reported that between 10 p.m. Wednesday and 10 a.m. Thursday someone threw a large rug on a garden lattice fence, police said.

A woman in the 3700 block of Highknob Circle reported that between 9 p.m. on Wednesday and 6:15 a.m. Thursday a basketball hoop was damaged and moved about 75 yards from the driveway into the middle of Deering Bay Drive, along with another neighbor's portable basketball hoop, police said. The backboard was broken off the stand and was not found. The sand weighing down the base was dumped in the grass. Both of the hoops were placed in the middle of the road blocking the street so cars couldn’t get through.
