Racial Text Causes Fight Between Naperville Central Students
Rumors and false accusations spread throughout the school because of the incident.

NAPERVILLE, IL — A racially-motivated text sent from student to student last week resulted in a fight.
Junior Blake Jackson, who is black, reportedly received a “racially insensitive text message” from a white friend, according to a report from the Central Times. The text was reportedly intended as a joke. The next day, Jackson punched him.
“When he sent me that message in [a] group chat, something went through me,” Jackson told the Times. “Who would say such a thing like that to another human being?”

Initial reports stated that Jackson was punished while his friend was not. However, that turned out to not be true.
In a statement sent to Patch, Naperville District 203 Director of Community Relations Michelle Fregoso said both students realized they said and did something they weren’t proud of.

“Unfortunately, because of the emotion involved, there’s a lot of rumors and false accusations about this incident,” Fregoso said.
While the district was unable to comment on student discipline, Fregoso said officials typically meet with students and their families to work toward peaceful resolutions.
According to a report from ABC 7, both students were suspended, but are now back in class.
