NLPD Investigation Leads to Arrest in Joliet Marijuana Plant Operation

About 150 marijuana plants, growing equipment and a dozen firearms were seized when officers raided a Joliet home Tuesday morning, police said.

Ehren Meintel, 27, of the 500 block of Park Drive in Joliet, is charged with possession of more than 5,000 grams of marijuana, unlawful production of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance, unlawful use of a weapon and not having a valid Firearm Owner's Identification Card.

Meintel was arrested during the morning raid on the alleged marijuana growing operation at his home on Park Drive. Will County Sheriff's deputies served a warrant for New Lenox police, whose investigation based on information from a confidential source led them to the Joliet house.

An "elaborate marijuana manufacturing operation" was discovered in the house, police said. Industrial lighting, fans, growing trays and fertlizer were seized along with the plants and guns.

Meintel is being transported to the Will County jail to await a bond hearing.
