The Lincoln-Way West Poms will host a dance clinic on Monday, August 18, from 5 to 7 p.m. for kindergarten through 6th grade students. Dance clinic participants will perform with the Varsity and Sophomore Poms at Community Night on Friday, August 22, at 6 p.m. at the West High School.

“We ask the parents to arrive 15 minutes early to register your child. We also recommend that parents return at 6:45 p.m. to receive additional information and see what their child has learned,” stated Melissa Sweeney, West Varsity Poms coach.

Kindergarten through 6th grade participants will learn skills, a routine, and will play games.

The Dance Clinic will be held in the cafeteria at Lincoln-Way West High School, 21701 S. Gougar, New Lenox. Please enter through the main entrance and look for signs. The $30 fee includes a West Pom t-shirt, snack and the two-hour dance clinic.

Interested candidates should complete the application form before August 1, 2014 to be guaranteed a t-shirt. Applications received after August 1 are not guaranteed a t-shirt. Participants should wear comfortable clothing and gym shoes. For the performance girls will wear their new t-shirt and black shorts or pants depending on the weather.

“This is an event that the high school girls really look forward to every year and the children always have a great time,” noted Sweeney.

Please contact Melissa Sweeney at msweeney@lw210.org with any questions and for a copy of the registration sheet.

This is the sixth year for the dance clinic.

Melissa Sweeney is the Varsity and Sophomore Pom Coach. She is a mathematics teacher at Lincoln-Way West. Additionally, she serves as a Dean, Mu Alpha Theta sponsor and the Senior Class sponsor.
